Brace: Bank of Albania to strengthen fight against money laundering

SP MP Erion Braçe requested in Parliament that the Bank of Albania strengthen measures against money laundering and increase supervision of financial institutions.

Brace emphasized that dirty money has entered the market through foreign exchange offices and it is the Bank's duty to strengthen control.

According to the MP, the same should be done with the banking system, strengthening supervision over financial institutions.

"Since February of this year, we have been in different conditions. The war in the Persian Gulf has imposed conditions on the markets. Inflation is rising, influenced by the prices of food, alcoholic beverages, oil and gas. In the last two weeks alone, we have seen strong abuses in the hydrocarbon market, with decreases and then increases in prices. The bank must do its cycle, but it must be helped by the economy. The broad economic base must be the focus not only of the government, but also of the Bank of Albania. To strengthen the fight and rules against money laundering in the market. Dirty money has entered the market through foreign exchange offices and it is the Bank's duty to strengthen control.
