The leader of the Democrat Party, Sali Berisha, shared little of his life beyond his figure as a politician.

In a podcast, Berisha recounted meeting his wife, Lirina, and that due to circumstances, they did not hold a traditional wedding ceremony.

Berisha said that a factor that connected them even more was the profession of both of them in their youth as doctors.

"Lili was my destiny. A year and a half, two after we met, we got married. We didn't have a wedding. No, we didn't, the conditions were like that. She came from a family with traditions, and my parents loved her very much. We were both doctors. She was busier, because in addition to work, she also had a home. She was passionate about medicine, but I suggested pediatrics to her. She fell in love with her profession, she loved it very much, because a child reflects things more than an adult, so she is in love with her profession. With all the desire I had to help her, I couldn't help her. And I saw my mother-in-law demanding the same things from her son as she demanded from her daughters, and I saw this as a positive thing," said Berisha. /CNA
