The progress report of the EU for the year 2024 expresses appreciation towards SPAK, in the fight against corruption and organized crime.

The EU states that SPAK has given good results in investigations, prosecutions and punishments.

The progress report shows that politicians and high officials are under investigation or convicted.

"SPAK, consisting of the Special Prosecutor's Office, the National Bureau of Investigation and anti-corruption and organized crime courts, has continued to deliver good results in the investigation, prosecution and convictions of high-level corruption cases, including involving politicians and high-level officials as cases involving the protection of the EU's financial interests.

SPAK's capacity in financial investigations has increased and the systematic use of financial investigations and asset seizures has improved. However, the number of referrals to SPAK from other authorities has decreased. Other bodies, charged with the fight against corruption, especially the General Prosecutor's Office and the state police, still face challenges in detecting and effectively investigating corruption," the report emphasizes./ CNA
