The High Prosecution Council reacts to the repeated attacks against the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution in the media. We emphasize that the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's accusations regarding SPAK prosecutors were not few.

In the reaction, it is emphasized that the KLP condemns any expression, insulting and intimidating action that aims to unfairly denigrate the figure of the prosecutors or exert pressure on them.

"The High Prosecution Council condemns any expression, insulting and intimidating action that aims to unfairly denigrate the figure of the prosecutors or exert pressure on them, calling on everyone not to in any way undermine the professional work of the Prosecutor's Office prosecutors Specially. Every subject involved in the legal activity of the prosecution has the right to submit any claim, complaint or objection to the competent Court provided by the law for the delivery of justice. This, in a democratic state, is the only way to achieve to the truth", it says, among other things, in the reaction.

Full reaction:

The High Prosecution Council is the institution entrusted by the Constitution with the task of guaranteeing the independence, accountability and status of the prosecutors of the Republic of Albania.

The High Prosecution Council has the legal obligation under Article 185 of Law 115/2016 to take a public stance... "in defense of special prosecutors when it judges that their human rights are at risk of being violated due to the performance of their duties or that the performance of their functions their legal rights are being endangered or may be endangered as a result of the actions or attitudes of any public or private entity".

In exercising this duty, the Council carefully follows every public reaction related to the work of the prosecution institution and in particular the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime.

In this context, the High Prosecution Council has been following with concern in recent days, the statements of special subjects in the audio-visual and electronic media, related to the procedural actions taken by the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK).

The High Prosecution Council condemns any expression, insulting and intimidating action that aims to unfairly denigrate the figure of prosecutors or exert pressure on them, calling on everyone not to in any way harm the professional work of the prosecutors of the Prosecution of Special. Every subject involved in the legal activity of the prosecution, has the right to submit any claim, complaint or objection to the competent Court provided by the law for the administration of justice. This, in a democratic state, is the only way to get to the truth.

At the same time, the Council unreservedly supports the legal activity of the above-mentioned prosecutors and of every prosecutor in the prosecution system, encouraging them to continue to exercise with full competence and independence their function for raising and representing the accusation against anyone, in the name of the Albanian state, without being influenced by anyone.

The High Prosecution Council takes advantage of the opportunity to express its high regard for the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution for the mission they have undertaken to perform, but also as personalities with high integrity. The results of the work of this structure have currently been positively evaluated by all actors in the country, making it possible to increase the public's trust in justice, this expectation of the justice reform undertaken and approved in the Assembly of Albania in full agreement.

Finally, the High Prosecution Council calls on all the prosecutors of the Republic to continue their work with high responsibility in implementing their constitutional powers for the exercise of criminal prosecution and the representation of the prosecution in the service of society./ CNA
