The Mayor of the Municipality, Erion Veliaj, within the framework of the 103rd anniversary of Tirana, the capital, has forwarded a video message, where he lists the challenges and successes.

“Kryeqyteti ynë po kalon ditët më të mira që nga koha e ekzsitencës së tij. Tirana ishte Kryeqyteti Europian i Rinisë dhe përveç 1000 aktiviteteve rinore, shënjoi plot suksese të tjera, si organizimi i përkryer i finales së Konferencë Ligës me Romën dhe Fejnordin në Tiranë dhe tifozët respektivë, Festivalin 'Sunny Hill', apo edhe koncerte si ai i Ermal Metës, Dua Lipës dhe Rita Orës e qindra aktivitete të tjera. E mbyllëm vitin me vlerësimin më dinjitoz që kemi marrë ndonjëherë nga ana politike e diplomatike, ku mes shumë qyteteve europiane dhe ballkanike, Tirana u zgjodh mikpritësja e Samitit të BE-së, i pari Samit që organizohej ndonjëherë në një qytet jashtë Bashkimit Europian, dhe ky qytet ishte Tirana jonë,” ka thënë Veliaj.

Further in his video message, Veliaj said that to get here, a lot of work has been done to eradicate the dark days of the chaotic Tirana of the 90s.

"During these last 30 years, especially after the fall of communism, unfortunately, Tirana has had its dark days, when things have not gone so well or the clock has stopped in the country. Here I mean the days of kiosks, illegal constructions, encroachment, clutter, traffic and sludge. A Tirana that no one feels proud of when they remember it and we are working every day to forget those dark days of Tirana during the transition," he said./ CNA.al
