Opposition protest/ Foreign media echo: Edi Rama's resignation is demanded
Opposition protest

Foreign media have echoed the protest of the opposition the day before in Tirana.

The media giant "Washington Post" writes that citizens protested against the government, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The article states that Sali Berisha, former president and prime minister of Albania who leads the Democratic Party, and former president Ilir Meta, who leads the Freedom Party, were among the protesters who gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office and called for Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign.

"The time has come for this revolution to take out the corrupt money and return it to higher salaries and pensions," said Berisha.

It is further written that Rama's critics accused him of corruption and consider him responsible for the exodus of young Albanians who have left for Western European countries.

The opposition also accuses Rama of bribing Charles McGonigal, a former senior FBI counterintelligence official who is accused in the United States of withholding from the FBI key details of a 2017 trip to Albania with a former official. of Albanian intelligence, who allegedly gave him at least $225,000.

Rama accepted the meeting with McGonigal, but denied the accusations that he gave him money./ CNA.al
