660,000 washing machines from "Samsung" are defective/ The company

Samsung recalled more than 660,000 washing machines from the market, warning customers that the washing machines have developed technical problems, thus risking overheating during operation and catching fire.

The company received 51 reports where users have complained about washing machines overheating, and some users have had these washing machines catch fire.

In ten of these reports, it resulted that some customers had material damage to their homes as well as health damage due to the inhalation of fumes.

Some of the defective Samsung washing machines are:

WA49B, WA50B, WA51A, WA52A, WA54A and WA55A.

The machines were sold in white, black, champagne and ivory colors, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which also released the range of serial numbers for the 14 defective models we cited above.

663,500 washing machines were sold at big-box retailers like Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot and Loët's from June 2021 to December 2022, costing between $900 and $1,500.

A software update can fix the fire hazard. “Consumers should immediately check that their washing machine software has been updated to prevent the risk; and, if not, consumers should immediately stop using them until the software is updated,” the CPSC said. /CNA.al
