OFFICIAL/ Shkëlzen Gashi "hangs his shoes on the nail" at the age

It is now official, Shkëlzen Gashi has decided to put an end to playing football, "hanging his shoes on the nail". The news was confirmed by the 34-year-old himself through a post on the official Instagram page.  

"The time has come to tell you that the football chapter is closing for me and I will end my active career after this season. I would like to thank my clubs and teammates for many memorable moments and great successes. A very big thank you goes to my family and friends for their great support. I am very much looking forward to the future and everything to come," Gashi wrote.  .

We remember that Gashi played 17 matches in the Albanian national team, where he scored one goal, that against Armenia in "Elbasan Arena". The striker's golden moment in his career was when he was declared the best scorer of the 2014 and 2015 editions in the Swiss Super League. 

In 2013, Gashi won the Swiss Cup with Grashopper, while in 2015 he became champion in the Swiss Super League with Basel. 

Gashi, who is currently part of Aarau in the second league of Swiss football, has also made a career at Belinzona, Shafausen, Xamaksi and Zurich in Switzerland, while in the MLS league in the USA, he was part of the Colorado Rapids team. 

The striker was part of Albania in the 2016 European Championship in France and played only eight minutes in the duel against Switzerland.
