Marca has also made an estimate of Pele's wealth, citing that Pele's net worth at the time of his death is 100 million US dollars.

Pele continued to earn tens of millions of dollars through endorsement deals with businesses in his post-retirement decades, most notably through his deal with Puma. In elite football, Pelé currently holds many important records, including the player with the most goals scored, a whopping 1,297 in all competitions combined.

In Brazil, where he was born, Pelé is revered as a national hero and holds the record for most goals scored in a single season, 77. After retirement, Pelé became a political activist who worked to improve the lives of the poor in Brazil.
