A large-scale scandal has shaken Belarusian football. The champion team of Shakhtjor Soligors, as well as the runners-up of Energetik BGU Minsk, have received exemplary punishment for match-fixing during the last season. 

Shakhtar, where the Albanian footballers, Valon Ahmedi and Ardit Krymi are active, has been stripped of their championship title. In addition to the championship, the club from Soligorsk was punished with the deduction of 30 points this season and 20 for the next season, regardless of the division in which it competes. 

Likewise, the squad that had already been champions in the 2020-2021 season will also be barred from playing in European competitions and the federation, which kept UEFA up to date with the process, has revealed third-placed BATE Borisov as its representative in the preliminary round of the Champions League. 

The second-place team, FC Energetik-BGU Minsk, was also the target of the same accusations, which was punished with 20 points this season and 10 next season. 

It is also reported that Shakhtjor sports director Vladimir Nideragus, accused of bribing several teams, is under arrest, the Russian has been declared persona non grata in Belarus and may be deported.
