Albania U19 "breaks", Scotland celebrates in Elbasan

Albania U-19 girls played today the third and last match against Scotland, valid for the second round of the European Championship 2024. In the match held at the "Elbasan Arena" stadium this afternoon, the red and black team was defeated with the result 0- 3 from Scotland.

The coach of Albania U-19, Kreshnik Krepi, fielded this formation: Amelia Mone (GK), Rexhina Maxhalaku, Rosela Vasa, Gelda Kadiolli, Vesa Paçarizi, Xesika Ndoj, Arlinda Kodra (C), Era Methoxha, Alesia Cinaj, Stacey Qosja , Claudia Borci.

The first half of the match was evenly played. Both teams tried to get closer to the respective gates to find the advantage but without success. At the end of the first half, Albania had a good opportunity with Klaudia Borci, but the striker did not hit properly from inside the area and the ball was stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. The first half ended with a score of 0-0.

The Scots start the second half of the game better, taking the advantage in the 55th minute with McCleary, while scoring two more goals in the 63rd and 69th minutes, which seems to have psychologically affected the red and black girls, who had difficult to react properly.

Coach Krepi makes three substitutions during this part, putting Klevisa Ndoci, Angela Nika and Natali Gjergji on the field instead of Alesja ?inaj, Era Methoxha and Xesika Ndojt.

The match ends with the result 3-0 in favor of Scotland, which thus secures the first place in the group and promotion to the A League for the next qualifying edition.

It is worth noting that despite not being able to climb to League A, the red and black girls had a very good qualifying season, dominating the first two challenges against Cyprus and Liechtenstein and securing 6 points in two matches.

In the other match of group B2, which was played at 15:30 at the 'House of Football', Cyprus beat Liechtenstein 5-0.

All the matches of this second round of the U-19 European Championship took place in Albania, under the organization of the Albanian Football Federation. The matches were played at the 'House of Football' and at the 'Elbasan Arena' stadium.
