He shone in the World Cup in Qatar, but the Belgian club punishes the Moroccan midfielder

Selim Amallah wrote history with Morocco by finishing the World Cup in fourth place. The Standard Liege midfielder was active in the seven matches that the national team played in Qatar.

But his shine has faded once he's back in Belgium. Amallah did not want to renew his contract that ends in June and so the club punished him by deciding to send him to play with the U-21 team.

"We have decided to send Selim Amallah and three other players to the youth. We will do nothing to increase the value of players leaving for free. We will not do the dirty work for other teams. The easiest thing would be to let them play, but it would send a dangerous signal. Accepting that you can continue to play and then leave for free would be the death of the club", stated the president of Standard Liège Pierre Locht.
