UEFA has warned the Football Association of England that it could be excluded from the 2028 European Championship, despite being the host country along with Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

 The Times reports that the Three Lions could be banned from EURO 2028 if the country's Prime Minister Keir Strames intervenes to set up a regulator in men's football.

UEFA Secretary Theodore Theodoridis issued a warning in a letter to England's Secretary of State Lisa Nandy in early September, citing that there should be no government interference in football.

Theodoridis has insisted that independence in football is a fundamental condition.

British government plans to promote a watchdog to all clubs competing in England were launched in March, with the aim of preventing wealthy clubs from creating another European super league.

However, if the government does not heed UEFA's warning and decides to intervene in football, they risk being excluded from EURO 2028 and losing the chance to win a trophy on British soil./ CNA
