Government intervention in the election, FIFA takes the extreme decision

FIFA decides to suspend the Football Association of Sri Lanka after government interference has been noticed in the elections for the Executive Committee. The Bureau of the FIFA Council announces that the decision to suspend the Sri Lankan Federation comes into force immediately as the government's intervention was observed in the elections of January 14, 2023, which goes against the status of FIFA.

Meanwhile, FIFA announces the conditions for the removal of the extreme decision, while it is emphasized that certain criteria must be met, as the elections must first be declared invalid and then the work to repeat them must begin.

In the meantime, the new elections should definitely be carried out according to the status of the Sri Lanka Football Association with the vote that should be secret, while the mandate should be valid for a period of four years.
