"They asked me for money to play with Albania", the AFL takes the former player to court

The Albanian Football Federation has gone to the Court, as it sued former player Shefki Kuqi for defamation.

The latter appeared in a public statement on "ATV" television during the World Cup period, where he stated that the AFL had asked him for money to be equipped with an Albanian passport.

In an official statement on the official website, the country's football institution stated:

" The Albanian Football Federation has taken the legal steps by suing for defamation the former footballer Shefki Kuqi, who in a public statement on the television 'ATV', during the show 'Favorite i Botërorit', stated that in the late 1990s he was asked for money for to be equipped with an Albanian passport and represent the Albanian National Team. The lawsuit of the ALF against Shefki Kuqi has been accepted by the Basic Court in Pristina and has been registered with number C.nr. 119/22 ."
