The Albanian athlete, Luiza Gega, a few days ago, was declared the European champion in the European championship in Munich, as she won the gold medal. For this reason, in honor of the red and black champion, a reception ceremony has been organized.

In her speech, Gega said that with this achievement, she showed Europe that even a small country like Albania can succeed. She said that she has been sacrificing for years to reach this milestone.

“Ndoshta jam lodhur shumë për të qenë këtu ku jam sot, kam vite që sakrifikoj, jo me detyrim por dëshirë. Zgjodha të përfaqësoj ngjyrat e flamurit tim kuqezi, të mundohesha çdo ditë t’i përfaqësoja denjësisht. Dhe sot jam më krenare se kurrë për ato ngjyra, kjo është arsyeja pse derdha lot në finish sepse mu kthye gjithçka mbrapsht. I tregova Europës se dhe ne mund t’ia dalim dhe pse ndoshta vend i vogël dhe gjëra për të përmirësuar. Sigurisht dua të falënderoj sepse gjërat kanë ndryshuar për sportin, të gjithë kanë bërë që të vijë kjo medalje t’i vijë atletikës sepse i kishte munguar. E vetme nuk do ia kisha dal kurrë pa mbështetjen e trajnerit sepse ka pasur më shumë besim te unë se unë te vetja dhe për këtë e falënderoj pa masë.”, tha fillimisht Gega.

The athlete also remembered the past, where she said that due to the small financial support, she often thought of withdrawing, but added that she is now proud of what she has achieved and is now aiming for fourth place in the world.

"Even without receiving this medal, my year has been successful. Next I expect to be fourth in the world. The family is prouder than ever of me. I don't wish I had chosen anything else but what I'm doing now. I am very happy to represent my country, despite the great sacrifices over the years. I have done this sport with very little financial support, where several times I even thought of withdrawing, but I am prouder than ever of this achievement and that everything is paying off now," concluded the European champion.
