Playing for the semi-final/ Spain, the "black cat" of Germany

Spain and Germany open this Friday the quarter-final phase of the European Championship. The two main contenders to win the trophy face each other, in what is obviously also a premature final.

In this challenge, it is difficult to choose a favorite, due to the very good form shown by the two national teams in this tournament. Spain has become the black cat for Germany, since the last victory of the panzers dates back to the distant year 1988.

Spain-Germany is one of those matches that we are used to seeing in the semi-finals or finals. The memories are not distant, where another European saw these teams as protagonists. In Euro 2008, the final was discussed exactly between the 2 teams, with Spain forgiving Torres' goal and lifting the second champion title in history in the sky of Vienna. Two years after that final, came the distant World Cup in Africa where fate wanted Spain and Germany to meet again, this time in the semi-finals. Even this meeting was minimally won by the Spanish, who were then crowned with the triumph in a world cup, where they beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the final.

The Germans seek revenge for these matches, which in Berlin have long been remembered for the way they came. The representatives have also met in other friendly and official matches of the League of Nations, but the last victory of the panzers came in the 1988 European Championship, when the infamous Berlin wall still stood in the capital.

Germany hopes to qualify, this is also because the statistics show that the Panthers never lose in a European quarter-final. The challenge remains to be enjoyed, as it is scheduled to be played this Friday evening, starting at 18:00.
