"This was my last game", the coach ends his career suddenly

The famous trainer, Mircea Lu?esku, suddenly decided to end his career at the age of 78.

The Romanian started his career as a coach in 1979, as he was in charge of Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine for three years and after the last defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk, he emphasized that he would eventually retire from football.

Lu?escu said that he can no longer continue when he sees empty stadiums as a result of the war. During his long career, the 78-year-old Romanian coached 15 different teams, in Italy, Pisa, Brescia, Reggio Emilia and Inter, while he had experience with the Romanian and Turkish national teams.

Other club level teams managed by Lucescu include Corvinul Hunedoara (where he started his career), Dinamo Bucharest, Rapid Bucharest, Gallatasarai, Besiktas, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit and most recently, Dinamo Kyiv.

"This was my last match. In the last 15 years I have given everything I could to Ukrainian football. But, this is not how we can continue forward, the war, the empty stadiums, the minutes of silence before the challenges.

Dynamo Kyiv will have a very beautiful future, but I will not be part of them. I wish everyone peace and health.

Of course I would have liked it to end differently, but everything has its end. This applies to a football career, to football itself and to life. Everything has a beginning and an end", said Lu?escu.
