Qatar extends its 'claws' to Portugal, buys 21.67% of shares in Sporting Braga

A few years ago there was speculation about the possibility that Qatar's wealth fund, through its investment fund, would buy a football club or part of it. Although all eyes were on the Premier League, the deal has finally been formalized for a club in Portugal, it is Sporting Braga.

"Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the investment group behind a number of the world's leading sports brands and businesses, has announced the signing of a share purchase agreement with Olivedesportos, SGPS, SA in connection with QSI's acquisition of 21.67% of the share capital in Sporting Clube de Braga - Futebol, SAD (SC Braga), one of the main football clubs in Portugal," the statement said.

Qatar thus continues to expand in the world of sports, following its firm commitment to PSG, which has increased its market value exponentially since Qatar took ownership, to the point of entering the 'Top 10' -shen of the most valuable clubs in the world.
