The red card of Kumbulla, the former Italian judge: Malice of Berardi

2023-03-13 09:02:50, Sport CNA

Marash Kumbulla was punished yesterday with a red card in the game of Roma against Sassuolo, leaving the field of play in the extra minutes of the first half and with his team that was also punished with a penalty. An episode which created a lot of controversy since it all started with Berardi lying on the field.

But Luka Mareli, the former Italian judge and now a commentator on "DAZN", has explained why Kumbulla was punished with red and why Berardi was not punished, as well as predicted a suspension longer than just one match for the Albanian footballer.

"This is a typical example of violent behavior that is very difficult to see on the field. Fabri was in a good position, but there were many players in the middle and especially Kumbulla's kick was covered by Berardi.

The ball was in play, Paireto proved capable and called Fabrin on the monitor. Someone hypothesized that there was a foul by Berard against Kumbulla, but that is not the case, there is no foul, at most there is malice after he leaves his foot there.

The offense that should be reported is Kumbulla's kick that occurs with the ball in play, which is why it is restarted with a red card and a penalty. The same thing happened last week with Ken-Mansini. "Kumbula's disqualification will be for at least two matches," said Mareli.
