Albanian football is in mourning, the former striker passes away

The famous former football player, Hekuran Jakupi, has passed away at the age of 58.

The former attacker could not overcome the serious illness, with which he had been fighting for a long time. 

Jakupi is remembered as one of the best footballers of the 90s-00s, where he contributed with the teams of Elbasan, Bylis, Tirana, Teuta or Erzen.

The president of the AFL, Armand Duka, also reacted to this separation from life, who wrote that Albanian football lost a man passionate about what he gave on the field. 

"It was with great sadness that I received the news of the death of Hekuran Jakupi, the former striker who made thousands of fans celebrate his goals while he was defending the colors of various teams such as Elbasan, Teuta, Tirana, Erzeni and Bylisi.

Albanian football lost a passionate man while playing on the field. With the same passion, he continued to devote himself to the world of football, working on the preparation of new generations as a coach.

On behalf of myself and the Albanian Football Federation, I express my sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Hekuran! May his memory be eternal!", writes the Duke.
