English football is in mourning for the death at the age of 83 of the former national football player, George Cohen.

The 1966 World Cup winner with the "Three Lions" was one of the last three survivors of the starting XI, along with Bobby Charlton and Geoff Hurst.

The causes of the former defender's death are not yet known, as the results of the autopsy are awaited.

His former club Fulham and also 'Sir' Jof Hërst reacted to this.

The London club writes: "Everyone at the Fulham club is devastated by the sad news that one of our greatest players in history, George Cohen, has passed away."

"Very sad to hear that my friend and England team-mate George Cohen has passed away. That everyone, without exception, has always said that George was a dear man. We will miss him very much. My most heartfelt condolences go to George's wife, Dafne, and his family," said Hërst.

Cohen was only active for Fulham in his career, for a full 13 years and also for England from 1964 to 1967.
