Fonseca: The Champions League is very different from Serie A, it is more
Paulo Fonseca

Milan took a big 1-3 victory over the reigning champions of the Champions League, Real Madrid, in the fourth meeting of the League stage.

Speaking to the media after the success at the "Santiago Bernabeu", the coach of the "Reds", Paulo Fonseca, said that the triumph belongs to the players and not to him.

"We won because the players had courage, they came here not afraid of anything, just eager to play our game and the triumph is all about the team, not mine. We prepared the game to have the ball under our control as much as possible , in the first half we did important things, in the second half there was more suffering, but we suffered together and the victory is deserved," he said initially.

Furthermore, the "Djall" technician added that it was easier for him to prepare the match against Real than when he works for the Serie A challenges.

"The matches in the Champions League are completely different to those in Serie A. Many people living abroad do not know how difficult it is to play against the teams of the Italian championship, it is more difficult to play against Monza or Cagliari than against Real Madrid. Without a doubt, Real Madrid is probably the strongest team in the world," added the 51-year-old.

As for the pride he feels from this meeting, the Portuguese declared that Milan showed Europe that the Italians do not play only in defense.

"We proved to Europe that Italian teams don't only know how to defend, I don't agree when this is said about Italian teams. We had the patience to keep the ball and wait for the right time to attack. Now we have to keep growing because there is still a lot to do", said Paulo Fonseca.

After the victory over Real Madrid, Milan ranks 18th with six points. /CNA
