Fenerbahce leaves the Turkish championship? The decision is made

The Fenerbahce team will continue to be part of the Turkish championship, at least for this season. The Turkish club announced a possible withdrawal after the violence at the end of the match with Trabzonspor.

The players were attacked on the field by Trabzonspor fans, after the victory in the derby, which brought a harsh reaction. The leaders had announced a hearing assembly on April 2, where a full 25,000 Fenerbahce fans took part. The latter asked to withdraw from the Turkish championship, but the managers tried not to make a hasty decision.

The parties decided that the team will be part of the Turkish championship, at least until the end of the season, and in the summer there will be another assembly, where the possible withdrawal from the championship will be discussed.

The president of Fenerbahce, Ali Koç, stated that the players have told him that they want to fight until the end to become champions. The decision to withdraw from the championship has been put aside until the next Assembly, after 3 months. Among the proposals, someone said that it would be better to activate the youth in the championship and the first team in the Conference League, but they do not want to be mere extras on the field.

In the Turkish Super League, Fenerbahce holds the second place in the standings with 79 points, 5 points less than the leading Galatasaray, but with one more game played. The two clubs are fiercely competing with each other for the championship title, while in the penultimate week they have a direct confrontation to play.
