Barcelona reacts to the fact that it paid 1.4 million people to the Arbitration Committee: It happens in big clubs

Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira is a former Spanish referee and one of the key people in La Liga's referees committee. In addition, Enriquez had private businesses and it turned out that Barcelona had paid one of his companies 1.4 million euros over three years.

Catalan media published the information that Enriquez Negreira is among the persons against whom the corruption proceedings have started. In the investigation, the prosecutor discovered various suspicious things, as well as payments coming from Barcelona.

Thus, the Catalan giant, through the company DASNIL 95 SL, paid him for 'technical advice'. Barcelona's reaction was immediate through an official statement explaining that this happens in every major football club.

"FC Barcelona would like to clarify that it has used an external technical consultant in the past, who has provided technical video reports for new players to the club's technical secretariat. In addition, the relationship with the external service provider itself has been extended to include technical reports related to professional refereeing to supplement the information required by the first team and reserve coaching staff, which is common practice in professional football clubs.

Currently, this type of outsourced service is provided by a designated specialist in the Football Department. FC Barcelona regrets that this information comes precisely at the best sporting moment of the current season.

"FC Barcelona will take legal action against anyone who damages the image of the club with possible insinuations against the good name of the subject that may arise as a result of this information," the club says.
