Concrete measures to fight racism, deducting points from teams

The Brazilian Football Confederation will launch a new policy to combat racism in stadiums. According to what the media reports, each team will be punished with minus one point in case there are acts of racism.

The rule was approved this Tuesday by the Brazilian clubs. Through a statement, the Brazilian Football Confederation announced that it would strongly condemn racist acts . This is the first case in the world, that the punitive measure will be the removal of points in case of racist behavior or insults.

The proposal approved by the clubs of the First Category will also extend to the Brazil Cup. This tournament will gather nearly a hundred teams from different categories and will start on February 22.

" The fight against racism is serious. The measures have been discussed for a century and we have never put them into practice ," said Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the Confederation.

" Any act of racism or discrimination will be reported to the Prosecutor's Office and the Civil Police. This is so that the process does not end only in the field of sports and the offenders are punished by law ", said the head of the Confederation.
