Sad/ Former Tottenham player passes away in Miami

Charlotte FC's Anton Walkes, a former Tottenham Hotspur academy player, has died after two speedboats collided near the Marine Miami Stadium. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Wednesday that he was found unconscious and received first aid by Miami Fire Rescue.

However, his club have now announced on social media that the 25-year-old, from Lewisham, south London, has passed away. Charlotte athletic director Zoran Krneta said in a statement: “We are heartbroken by the loss of Anton Walkes, a truly extraordinary father, a loving person and an extraordinary human being. Anton epitomized what it means to be a part of the Charlotte Football Club and the entire community is saddened by this tragedy."

Walkes had been a professional since 2016. He had spent several years with Tottenham's youth ranks before moves to Portsmouth and Atlanta United. He was signed from Charlotte in December 2021 and started 21 games last season.
