Rare in Serie A, the coach: I apologized to the players at the break

A coach apologizing to players is not a scene that happens often in football. Monza are enjoying their Serie A debut, and so is coach Raffaele Palladino.

The 38-year-old started his first adventure as a coach on September 13 on the Monza bench. So far he has done a very good job and counts 1.73 points per game.

Monza started 2023 with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina in Florence. The locals ended the first half with an advantage. Palladino reflected at the break, the team reacted and Brazilian Carlos Augusto's goal brought the points.

"I put the team in difficulty by misreading some game situations. I apologized to the boys at recess. We were lucky, as we could be at a double disadvantage.

In the second half I modified and adjusted some things in the team. We played bravely, we made Fiorentina difficult. 

We could have won or lost, but we continue to grow and we are proud of the journey we are making", said the Italian coach. Monza is temporarily located 8 points above the cold zone.
