Unexpected! An Albanian in the technical staff of Germany

Shkodran Mustafi has finished playing football and started his career as a coach.

The former defender of Albanian origin has been appointed to the role of deputy coach of the German U-21 national team.

"Shkodran Mustafi joins youth football as Marc Meister's assistant coach. From July 1, Mustafi will closely follow the talents born in 2008," the German federation informs.

For his part, Mustafi expressed himself very happy about his new adventure, as he does not forget his big objective: "For some time I wanted to gain experience as a coach. On the one hand, I would have liked to play football longer. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to taking my first steps as a coach. I would like to pass on to the boys all the experience I have gained in my time from U-15 to U-21 and obviously with the National A".

The 32-year-old was part of the German representative team at the Brazil 2014 World Cup, where the Panzers managed to be declared world champions for the fourth time in history.
