Sensational/ Spain considers boycotting the World Cup

Spain is considering withdrawing from the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the US, Mexico and Canada, if Israel qualifies.

The news was reported by the newspaper "Marca" after statements by Patxi López, representative of the socialist group in Congress. The Spanish government has warned that it will ask international sports bodies to sanction Israel due to the situation in Gaza.

If this does not happen, the national team's withdrawal from the tournament is not ruled out. This decision would be unprecedented in the history of world football. The Spanish government has the power to authorize or block the national team's participation in international events.

However, such political interference could lead to sanctions from FIFA, which does not tolerate government interference in football. In the past, the organization has suspended the federations of Pakistan and Congo for similar reasons.
