The Danes make a "blockade", the European Super League must change its name

The European Super League should change its name. The competition, which aims to rival UEFA, is facing new problems.

The Court of the European Union for the protection of trademarks has accepted the appeal of the Danish League. Superliga in Denmark has registered the name as a commercial trademark and cannot be used in any other country.

Through an official communique, the Danish league stated that Superliga is a brand owned by Danish clubs and it is not allowed for another league in Europe to be registered under this name.

The only solution for the Superliga is to change its name and register under a different name if they want to operate in Europe.
The Court's decision was not well received by the founders of the Superliga, who are thinking of appealing the decision and staying in the first project, as originally planned.

At the end of December last year, the European Court of Justice ruled in favor of the European Super League, ruling that UEFA and FIFA acted against the law when they banned the creation of the Super League two years ago.

According to the founders, the European Super League aims to start the activity in 2025, but first it must close court cases, such as the last one about the use of the name.
