The athlete was arrested in France for buying drugs during the Olympic Games

An Australian hockey player has been arrested on suspicion of buying cocaine during the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

The athlete in question is Tom Craig, according to "FranceInfo". The 28-year-old was arrested as he was suspected of possessing approximately one gram of cocaine.

Local prosecutors said he was seen at the entrance to a building alone after midnight.

"The police arrested two men in the middle of a transaction," the source told FranceInfo.

The investigations were carried out by the Paris Narcotics Brigade police.

The seller, described as a 17-year-old, "was acting like a dealer," a prosecutor's source said.

He was seen carrying seven test tubes filled with cocaine, 75 ecstasy tablets and 3 grams of Mephedrone.

The Australian Olympic Committee said it "has confirmed that a member of the Australian hockey team is in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6".

"No charges have been filed. The AOC is continuing to investigate and arrange support for the team member," the statement said.
