Bielsa: Football should return to the poor, only business is benefiting

The coach of Uruguay, Marcelo Bielsa, has burst into criticism, regarding the way football is working. According to him, this sport has turned into a business and the poor do not have the opportunity to watch the matches.

Bielsa stated that everyone should come out and talk about this, while emphasizing that it is shameful that only he does this.

The well-known technician stated that football became a popular sport only because the poor followed it for free.

"No matter how many people watch football, if you don't make sure that what people are watching is something enjoyable, it will only benefit the business. Because the business only cares about how many people watch football. But in a few years there will be fewer players worth watching and the game produced will become less enjoyable, this current artificial increase in viewers will stop.

I think we should ignore this scenario that is being proposed to us, where controversy, accusations, determining the culprit becomes an obsession that worsens the atmosphere in which football should be played.

Football is a popular asset. Poor people who didn't have money to buy things that made them happy had football that was free. But now they no longer have it.

Football is originally a popular property. Why? Because poor people have very limited access to buy what makes them happy, because they don't have the money to buy it.

So, because football is free, its origins are popular. It is one of the few things that the poorest people can have. However, today they no longer have it. 17-year-old players like Endrik are going to Europe...

It's a shame that I'm the one who has to say these things, because then they'll only criticize me. Maybe you journalists should say these things because I don't think you are part of the business, otherwise you would. I believe the media should be prevented from hearing the amplified voice of people like me who occasionally have public influence. You are listening to me because I am the coach of the national team of Uruguay, otherwise who would care what I am saying?

But you as a representative of a profession that has the same power as the media, a power that manipulates absolutely everything to the maximum. Why don't you do an investigation to unmask the lies?", said Bielsa.

We remind you that Uruguay, with Bielsa on the bench, has qualified for the semi-finals of the America's Cup, where they will face Colombia.
