Armand Duka: We applied to receive the European Championship in Albania

The president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, invited to the show "Skaner" on MCN TV, spoke about his re-election as a member of the UEFA Executive Committee.

The Duke declared that he is satisfied with the re-election, while adding that he did not expect to be the most voted of all the candidates.

"There is no way I can not be satisfied, with the support of the majority. I am satisfied and surprised, because I did not expect to be the most voted in that congress. Of course, our relations with other federations have been correct and this evaluation has led to such support.

UEFA has taken the right decisions at the right time, in a difficult period, such as the Covid period. Football was the only sport that closed all championships during the pandemic.

Asked what benefits Albania, the Duke said that the good relations between the parties lead to the organization of various activities in our country. He also revealed that an application has been made for the European Championship for 19-year-olds to take place in Albania.

"It is not an institutional choice, but it is a choice of an individual, representing a federation. Being at a table and having good relations, there are also good things for football in the country. From this we had a European final in Tirana. We also had other activities, which were smaller. They are events that serve football and the country. There is also a kind of economic income for football. We can be the first place for organized tournaments for young people. We will we are candidates for other events. There may be another activity bigger than the Conference League final. We can organize a European Championship for U-19. We have applied for this, for the year 2025 or 2026," declared Duka.
