34 penalties shot, a "crazy" record in England

On Tuesday, a record was set in terms of the number of penalty kicks. When all the attention was on the Champions League, the Carabao Cup in England, what very few thought happened. The Preston team eliminated Fulham after penalties.

The special feature of this meeting is that it produced a full 17 series of penalties, as never before. The Preston team triumphed 16-15 after the 11-meters.

Fulham came as the absolute favorite in this meeting, but the field showed the opposite. Preston took the lead through Ledson in the 35th minute, but Nelson equalized in the 60th minute.

The score did not change until the end of the match and both teams went to penalties.

What followed was an absolute record in the FA Cup, as a full 34 penalties were taken. 17 runs were recorded, and in the end Preston pulled off a surprise and knocked Fulham out of the Carabao Cup.  

In the ninth round, it looked like the penalties were running out as Cuenca was wrong for Fulham to lose, but Hayden was also wrong at the other end, so the drama continued.

In the 17th round, Castagne missed the penalty for Fulham, while Ledson scored for Preston's big 16-15 penalty shootout win and passage to the last 16 of the Cup.

The previous record was held by a match from the 2014/2015 season, when Liverpool beat Middlesbrough 14-13.
