2.01 billion pounds, the Premier League does not know a crisis in the market

2022-09-04 10:20:39, Sport CNA

While Britain has been gripped by the energy crisis and rising living costs, island football is the only one that knows no restrictions and broke its own records once again, spending £2.01 billion and breaking the old record set in 2017 (£1.45 billion ).

According to "transfermarkt.de", the net spending of 20 Premier League clubs exceeded 1.3 billion euros.

Of the strongest European championships, the league that comes closest to the English is Serie A, with 749 million euros, followed by the French First League with 543 million euros. La Liga contracted its muscles and holds only the fourth place, with 490.6 million euros, while the Bundesliga ranks last with 484 million euros.

The Chelsea club spent more in England, breaking the record held by Manchester City in 2017 (222 million pounds). Tomas Tuhel, who was active until the last day of the market, closing it with the transfer of Aubameyang from Barcelona and Zakaria from Juventus, spent 258.5 million pounds on 8 players.

In second place is Manchester United, with 214 million pounds for 6 players. West Ham are in third place, with £170.5m for 8 players, the same number of players as Tottenham (£155m).

Nottingham Forest transferred 22 players, setting a record for an English club (152.9 million pounds), leaving behind Manchester City, who closed the market with 5 players, which cost the champions 124.5 million pounds.

Arsenal invested 115.7 million pounds in this market for five players, one less than Liverpool who did not reach the figure of 100 million (99.2).

The three clubs that spent the least are Kristal Palas (30.8 million pounds), Bournemouth (24.6 million) and Leicester (15.3 million). The coach of "Foxes", Brendan Rogers, complained after the loss with Manchester United on Thursday that the club has not made the right investments this season (2 transfers).

They are bottom of the table after 5 weeks and have made their worst start to a season since 1994.
