Urination in sleep or nocturnal enuresis

"90% of children who urinate at night feel very bad. Every single one of them thinks it only happens to them."

Bedwetting is considered normal until the age of 5, before this age no treatment is recommended. However, there are authors who set the age of 8 years as the normal limit of urination at night.

Some simple tips:

1. The parent must control the concern or annoyance that this situation causes. Talking, in the family with grandparents, cousins ??or close friends, about this concern is very harmful for the child who experiences it. Also even more harmful is labeling or putting in the Seder, especially by a younger brother or sister. You don't gain anything good from all these ways, on the contrary, the situation gets worse.

2. A relief measure is the use of mattress protectors.

3. The child who urinates at night in his sleep should not be restricted from liquids, for fear of urination. The child should drink 6-7 glasses of liquids a day, as this positively influences the learning of the bladder with a high amount of liquid, which is very important, to gain sphincteric or bladder control.

4. During the afternoon, you should avoid giving the child juices such as orange, lemon, tangerine, fizzy drinks, coca-cola, tea, and chocolate. The juices mentioned above together with chocolate are powerful kidney stimulants for increased urine production.

Some statistics:

5-7 million children urinate in their sleep at night, so it is not a rare thing. In this group of children, 2/3 of them are boys and 1/3 are girls.

After the age of 5, 15% of children continue to urinate at night in their sleep.

By the age of 10, 95% of children no longer wet the bed.
