The deputy of the Democratic Party, Luan Baçi, has stated that he has always been against the candidacy of Fredi Beleri in Himare.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Baçi said, among other things, that he had no sympathy for Beler and that he would prefer a Democratic Party candidate to represent him in the May 14 elections.

Regarding his arrest on the eve of the elections, Baçi described this event as staged.

"I did not agree that Beleri was a candidate in Himare. I would like to be a candidate of the Democratic Party. This is my personal opinion and I have no sympathy for Beleri either, but seeing the actions that have been taken I have to stand up and tell the truth. It is obvious, if Rama had accepted, he would not have spoken, he would have taken the position that the prime minister should take, but a prime minister who appears in the media and says that I will deal personally with all those who want to put Beleri there, it's absolutely staged. We are faking it for a man who has a problem with the appearance of what he is going to do.
