"There was a polarized climate"/ OSCE/ODIHR report on the elections:

The OSCE/ODIHR mission today shared some of the details of the document drafted from the observation of the parliamentary election process of May 11. In a press conference, representatives of this mission discussed some of the findings of the 20-page document.

According to the OSCE/ODIHR, the elections took place in a polarized and somewhat difficult climate.

Based on some of the findings published in the mission document, on May 11 there were several problems and abusive cases.

The mission expressed its observation of the use of state resources during the campaign by the ruling party.

"Before I go into this document, let me emphasize that there was a polarized and somewhat difficult climate. However, they went out and voted. External voters and observers are the heart of this process.

The elections were competitive and conducted in a professional manner. Candidates did not have equal opportunities, but they campaigned freely. There was comprehensive engagement. There were some problems.

The ruling party took advantage of the resources during the campaign. There were cases of claims against voters, especially against the administration. There was no shortage of abusive cases.

Our findings are more than 20 pages long. Election day was largely peaceful and well-organized. There were some incidents of voter intimidation. These are the main points,” the report said. /CNA
