The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said today that the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, will be sued for false public fraud.

In a statement to the media, Berisha said that Veliaj deceived the citizens of Albania and the international community, by posting falsified and manipulated minutes from the cell, with which he wanted to tarnish the position of the prosecutor of the file at all costs.

Berisha said that with yesterday's deception of the public, Erion Veliaj showed that, in order to escape the crimes he has committed, he is capable of taking any action.

I declared to you that he is indirectly threatening witnesses, by sending personal messages, or by threatening that we have the prosecutor personally. But yesterday he escalated his criminal attitude. He escalated it by deceiving Albanian citizens, as if the prosecutor had said a reprehensible word to him. But, the publication by the court of the audio of that moment showed what a characterless and immoral man has governed the municipality of Tirana.

"Therefore, tomorrow the drafting of the indictment against him begins. He will be indicted for false public fraud," Berisha said. /CNA
