The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, told a story with an Italian citizen he met in 1999 during a visit to Brussels.

Berisha said that the Italian had asked him if the Albanian mafia had started doing charity.

According to the head of the Democratic Party, he told him that the biggest problem is when the mafia starts doing charity and is connected to the government.

The chief democrat claims that this is happening now in our country, where he raised accusations that the government mafia is stealing citizens and buying votes.

"I will tell you a story. In '99 in Brussels, there I met an Italian, who served in the service sector of the European Commission, had read and heard a lot about the Albanian mafia of Fatos Nano and his friends. And he said to me: 'now tell me a little, have those mobsters started charity in Albania?'

I said 'they have started, but not much'.
