The CEC will recount the votes in the Tirana District under close observation by party representatives, candidates, the media and the international community. But even if this procedure is carried out nationwide, it is likely that any statistically significant deviations could only be found in the votes within electoral subjects (for open list candidates), and simply small accidental deviations in the votes for subjects.

The recount, even if it is complete for the entire country, cannot change the fact that the DP's votes (excluding the PL and diaspora votes) were almost 170 thousand fewer this year than in 2021...

Thus, the Alliance for a Greater Albania (to which Meta's PL contributed this year with around 28 thousand votes) received only 482 thousand votes domestically.

The votes cast here for this alliance were added to by 47 thousand votes from the diaspora, bringing the total to 529 thousand valid votes.

Stripping this figure of the contribution of Meta's party and the diaspora, the DP is left with around 454 thousand votes, comparable to the votes of 2021.

In 2021, the DP (without being in a pre-election coalition with Meta's party and without diaspora votes) received a full 622 thousand votes.

So, she received almost 170 thousand more votes four years ago, when she had neither the help of votes from Meta's party, nor the help of votes from the diaspora.

As for parliamentary mandates, with the help of the votes of Meta's party and the diaspora, the DP secured only 50 mandates this year. While without their help, it secured a full 59 mandates four years ago./ CNA
