"Suleiman the Magnificent" sentenced to prison

Actor Halit Ergenc, known for his roles as Suleiman the Magnificent and his role in the series 1001 Nights, has been sentenced to prison by an Istanbul court.

Following the detention of manager Ay?e Bar?m on the grounds that she organized the Gezi Park protests in 2013, two actors, Halit Ergenç, Dolunay Soysert, Mehmet Günsür and R?za Kocao?lu, were called to testify.

Actors Halit Ergenç and R?za Kocao?lu, who were questioned as witnesses within the framework of the investigation conducted against ID ?leti?im's owner-manager, Ay?e Bar?m, were sentenced to prison on Friday for the criminal offense of "false declaration".

A lawsuit was filed against actors Ergenç and Kocao?lu, who were heard as witnesses within the framework of the investigation conducted against coach Bar?m, due to false statements.

In the concluded case, Halit Ergenç was sentenced to 1 year, 10 months and 15 days in prison, and R?za Kocao?lu was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison./ CNA
