Copenhagen Light Festival/ Fascinating activity in the Danish capital

Copenhagen looks colorful from the annual Festival of Light.

For three consecutive weeks, this activity attracts over 400,000 visitors despite the cold winter.

The Danish capital is ablaze with creativity during the Copenhagen Light Festival, which runs until February 23. Streets, squares and buildings are transformed into a mesmerizing light show, bringing a different atmosphere to residents and travelers on their way through the city.

This year, 50 new installations illuminate the city. Interactive highlights include Aura, which changes colors based on the emotions of visitors. Another display visualizes sea breezes in real time, created in collaboration with the Danish Meteorological Institute. A unique exhibition that celebrates nature and happy memories.

Beyond the art installations, the festival offers the largest light competition in Denmark, guided tours with dancing, and wine and beer tastings amidst the bright exhibitions.

Attracting more than 400,000 visitors each year, despite the winter cold, the Copenhagen Light Festival ranks as the second largest event of its kind in Europe, right behind Lyon's Fête des Lumières, which attracts up to 2 million participants. /CNA
