Video - Extraordinary event in Japan/ A new island is created by the underwater volcanic eruption

An extraordinary event was recorded three weeks ago after an underwater volcanic eruption in the Pacific Ocean.

The eruption of the underwater volcano created a new island off the southern coast of Iwo Jima, Japan.

Specifically, the island is located approximately 1 kilometer off the coast of Iwo Jima and 1,200 kilometers south of Tokyo.

The island was created in just 10 days from volcanic ash that rose to the shallow seabed.

Measurements in early November showed that the land was approximately 100 meters in diameter and had reached a height of 20 meters above sea level. These data have been confirmed by the volcano division of the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Experts warn that the newly created soil may not have a long life. But others say the new island may not sink if the eruption continues.
