Mysterious symbols found near dinosaur tracks

Archaeologists have found a series of carvings near the tracks of ancient dinosaurs in Brazil, The Sun reports.  

The mysterious carvings are thought to have a hidden meaning for the human ancestors who created them. They are called petroglyphs and several different designs were found. The carvings were discovered in the Serrote do Letreiro area in the Paraiba state of Brazil.

Some dinosaur tracks there date back to the early Cretaceous period. This was between 145 and 100 million years ago.

"The petroglyphs, characterized mainly by circular motifs, retain a striking similarity to other petroglyphs found in the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte," the researchers wrote.

A major focus of the study was on the relationship between the carvings and the traces, but they have not yet reached precise conclusions. /CNA
