Scientists discover carnivorous plant in India

Another discovery about plants has shocked scientists. In India, scientists have discovered a carnivorous plant that has roots underground, and thanks to these roots it manages to catch its "prey".

This plant feeds on worms, larvae and beetles. This species has its roots so large that it manages to catch even mice.

The plant, which is called Nepenthes pudica, forms specialized underground shoots with small, white, chlorophyll-free leaves, while the alums are much larger than the leaves and have a reddish color.

Only three other groups of carnivorous plants are known to capture subterranean prey, but they all use different trapping mechanisms and, unlike Nepenthes pudica, can only capture small organisms./ CNA.al
