The Special Court released the former head of IKMT Saranda, Julian Preni, from prison this Sunday.
Preni was arrested for committing the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions".
The measure of personal security "arrest in prison" was extinguished because the length of detention served is greater than the measure of punishment determined by the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
Arjel Balani was also released.
The former head of IKMT Sarandë and the former employee of the Urban Planning Office Sarandë were accused of having demanded a bribe from the citizen, Foti Doda, in connection with a building built on the beach of Ksamil.
After receiving the bribe, the building was not demolished for the latter in 2020, even though there was a demolition decision from the IKMT since September 2019. The building was demolished only on June 7, 2021./ CNA
