Police: the 71-year-old shot with a Kalashnikov, was escorted to the police station

The police of Korça have given the official announcement regarding the event that happened today in district number 16 in Korça, where the EN citizen, 71 years old, with mental health problems, shot a Kalashnikov in the air from the balcony of his apartment.

"Following the preliminary information given today, which is about the event that happened in neighborhood no. 16, where the EN citizen, 71 years old, with mental health problems, shot a firearm in the air from the balcony of his apartment, we inform you that:

With the arrival of the RENEA special units, a nearby security perimeter was created, and negotiations were made with the 71-year-old to surrender. After the negotiations, the 71-year-old surrendered and was then escorted to the premises of the Korça Police Station, for further procedural actions. 

During the search in his apartment, a Kalashnikov firearm was found, with a comb with combat ammunition, which was seized as material evidence," the police announced. / CNA
