By dinghy from Belgium to England/ 12 Albanians in handcuffs

Two people were arrested yesterday in Nottingham suspected of being involved in a failed attempt to smuggle 12 Albanian immigrants to Great Britain by boat.

They, together with the Albanians, were detained in Basingstoke, in Hampshire.

British media reports that the 12 illegal immigrants had left Belgium to go illegally to the United Kingdom.

The two persons, who were transporting the shippers, aged 48 and 44, have been detained on suspicion of helping illegal immigration.

They are in custody and being interrogated, as they are accused by the Belgian authorities of human trafficking.

Officers from the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency also arrested a third suspected member of the crime group in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire./ CNA.al
